Last Day at DayCare
Today is Sparky's last day at Day Care before the move. He knows that something is up, and he has been reacting to it. We tell him everyday that we're moving, and that soon we will have a new house and a new day care, and that we're going to have lots of family around this month. Still, he's moody and clingy. He's been desperately hanging on to an empty bottle of bubbles for two days now. Sparky is almost 2, and even little guys get upset about a move. Grandparents will be around for the move so Sparky will have some security there. I don't ever want to move cross-country again!

I cried for days when I had to move my 4-month old to a new daycare that was far more convenient for me (from across town ~30 min away to 3 min from my office). And she didn't even notice the change. It must be a lot harder when the little guy loves and will miss it!! Hang in there, I hope it all goes well!!
Best of luck with the move.
Poor little guy, he is confused. I find that lots of mommy-hugs and repeated reassurance with simple words help my almost-2-year-old-girl a lot with these kinds of issues. Can grandparents help with the moving side, freeing Mom for Sparky during the next few days?
I know it's stressful, but, with time, he will be fine. I just moved 3 states away with my son who is 5 1/2. I left an awful tenure-track position to take a job in industry. New house, new daycare, and my son's father stayed behind (we weren't together, but even though the job opportunities in new state would be much better for him, he doesn't want to move). My son spent 3 weeks at the new daycare before going back with his dad for visitation for the whole month of July. My son was really struggling at the new daycare...getting in trouble, saying he wanted to go back to his old school, etc. I'm hoping when he comes back, things will settle down. He starts kindergarten in public school in August. Just stay positive, point out the new, great things about your new house, school, etc, and give him lots of extra attention, if that's what he needs!
I moved to Prodigal U with little ones--they did much better with the move than I feared. When you and Mr. JP are less stressed out, Sparky will be less stressed too. At almost 2, Sparky will probably love exploring his new house and "helping" with boxes (at least mine did). Moving cross country with kids sucks.
Good luck with the move!
